PEDAGOGICAL EVENTS: OBSERVATION STAGE

a) Pedagogical event Nº1: An specific event

b) Reflection Nº1:
In this stage I remember the first time I arrived to the classroom and a little girl came up to me and introduced herself: "Hi I'm Constanza. What's your name?" At first, it seemed funny and charming but later on Constanza was a kind of obsessive. She always needed me to be near her or needed to take my hand on the way from the schoolyard to the classroom, most of the time she asked me to help her in class activities but it was only to tell me some stories uncalled for, not related to the class. Once, the teacher was indicating the people who would participate in an activity and Constanza was not one of them, she was so angry and sad that she only could cry only because she was not chosen. So I had to comfort and explain her that other students needed more attention because it was more difficult for them to learn than to another. The guide teacher, had already told me to be aware of this.

On the one hand, it was a challenging but an educative experience for me, in certain way it taught me how to face certain situation that may be common in children but on the other hand I think that this kind of behavior is related to a lack of confidence and independence, despite the age of the girl. Teaching should not be reduced just to the curriculum it is important that teaching also take into account the self development of our students, they must be educated to be self-sufficient, wise and free.
